furthur, further, ferthur? kcrw too.
Upon some careful listening to the record and KCRW reminding me track 6 and 7 are still always winners on every single record ever (the multiple of both being 42… SEE?), I have come to the conclusion that the Chemical Brothers- still firmly rooted in their own sound and the endless pursuit of looking for the ghost inside every Roland TB-303-have really managed to create a beautiful, albeit distorted and gritty record. Further is a treasure, though Swoon is by far the winner in the group.
In this, their latest chapter, the Chemical Brother’s have a remarkable positivity not present since Surrender. Where both Push the Button and We are the Night exemplified a throughly paranoid state of thinking, Further is simply joyful to be played, toying through the air to your ear.
“Just remember to fall in love, there’s nothing else” plays through my headphones over and over and I am once again hopeful. After a draining day at work, this was what I needed. Thank you KCRW, you always get me home, both in life and mind.
And thanks boys, your music is my weekend.
